Bastille Day Specials July 10 – 14

Bastille Day Specials July 10 – 14

Just when we thought the lazy, hazy days of summer weren’t very crazy; our research finds that July 14 is National Nude Day! Yes, American nudists believe that mid-July is just the time when you might need to keep cool on a hot, sticky summer day. If celebrating this day appeals to you, John will provide a choice of metal or wicker chairs in the back room.

Most of us, however, know July 14 as Bastille Day. This French holiday commemorates a Parisian mob attacking the Bastille, an ancient fortress and symbol of royal authority. The mob’s goal was to obtain gunpowder so they could defend themselves against the royal troops that had been sent into the city by King Louis XVI. This event has become a symbol of the power of citizens to end a despotic government.
