Toscano’s will offer the traditional Italian Christmas Eve celebration – the Feast of the Seven Fishes. This tradition comes from Southern Italy (from whence came John’s grandparents and Joe’s great-grandparents), where it is known as La Vigilia, or The Vigil. It commemorates the anticipation (Vigilia di Natale) for the midnight birth of the baby Jesus. Why seven fishes, you ask? One theory holds that the number seven is the most repeated number in the Bible; it appears more than 700 times!
Toscano’s Feast of the Seven Fishes will offer seven seafood dishes to be served family style at each table. Reservations are required for this event, beginning at 3:00. Remember to bring a bottle of your favorite go-with-seafood wine.
